Projection on the facade of the town hall, Den Bosch

'The Dragon's Egg'

Following the huge success of "De Bossche Beeldenstorm – De achtste erwt" in October 2024, where over fifty thousand visitors saw St. John's Cathedral transformed into a living work of art, we present a brand-new story, ‘The Dragon’s Egg’
"The Dragon's Egg" centers on the history of 1629 – the year in which army commander Frederik Hendrik and Dutch troops besiege 's-Hertogenbosch. For almost 450 years, the city has been invincible, earning it the nickname "The Swamp Dragon." Will 's-Hertogenbosch be able to live up to its reputation? Throughout Europe, kings and emperors follow the months-long encirclement. Frederik Hendrik drains the swamps, cuts off the supply of food, river water, and ammunition, and drives the people of 's-Hertogenbosch to despair.
Yet, they do not lose all courage. Two weeks before the siege begins, a boy from 's-Hertogenbosch makes a remarkable discovery in the swamp: a dragon's egg. This mysterious egg proves to be a symbol of hope and imagination. It teaches the people of 's-Hertogenbosch that coexistence in tolerance is stronger than division.
In the light projection, fact and fiction intertwine: alongside the historical battle for the city, there are miracles and mysteries. It results in a timeless lesson: live and let live.
